Last But Not Least

#‎30DaysOfDairy‬

Last—but CERTAINLY not least! I had the fantastic opportunity to visit D & J Dairy in Chilton this month and spent a little time with the woman at the helm that day—- Joan Lisowe! I joined her in the parlor during milking and we had a great chance to talk about how far farm technology has come the last 20 years and how vital the family farm structure really is. She, her husband, and her son run their family farm and come from a long line of hard working farmers. They have two farmsteads they work off of, crop hundreds and hundreds of acres, and milk around 200 cows. The grounds they own? BEAUTIFUL. Immaculately kept, clean, and organized. Their cows? The friendliest, most entertaining, silly girls! It is a REALLY special place!

I had a phenomenal visit and enjoyed everything from the robotics in the parlor to the spotless free stall barn and even watching her men get the crops off the fields before the rain came down the next day. You’ve never met a more dedicated family—-and I know how tirelessly they must work to keep their farms SO pristine! Thank you Joan for EVERYTHING! We salute YOU and your entire family on this final day of ‪#‎JuneDairyMonth‬!
